【演讲稿】How to Say It: What Do I Learn from 10-Day Meditation Course?

Hi everyone. Have you ever encountered this kind of situation? You sit down and try to do today’s most important work. However, after a few minutes, you begin changing your sitting positions, or organizing documents in your computer, in summary —— doing irrelevant things to feel relaxed.

Sometimes, two conflicting voices appears in your mind ——The Angel Voice tell you: My dear friend, please be focused. you could miss your deadline! On the contrary, the devil voice tell you: Come on! it’s no big deal. if you are uncomfortable, you cannot work efficiently.

If you were in this situation, which one would you listen? After all, each voice has its points and both of them are telling some truth. I have read many books and tried many methods but none of them really change this situation…

How I Decided to Attend This 10-Day Course?

And This, is one of the main reasons why I decided to enroll in a 10-Day Mindfulness Meditation Course, Because old students told me: if you attend the course and practice very hard, you will get out of this situation and make good decisions more quickly.

I felt deeply attracted, so I devoted all my Labor Day Holidays, plus a whole weeks’ leave to get 10 days’ free-time in a row. My team leader was so confused that they thought I was brainwashed by a pyramid selling organization.(被传销组织洗脑)But they trusted me and approved my request.

What Does The Course Feel Like?

Then the journey began. About 100 students, half male and half female, arrived at the meditation center besides a small village in Shandong Qingdao. We spent ten days there (male & female students have separate living area). We get up at 4 am, go to sleep at 10 pm, sitting on our mat quietly everyday, 10 hours a day, eating pure vegetarian foods, never touch each other, never talk to each other, never make eye contacts and kept all our cell-phones out of reach. The Teachers only taught us 3 things: focus on the breath, watch the body sensations, and keep a balanced mind —— Don’t expect pleasant sensations, and don’t hate unpleasant sensations.

What Do I Get From The Course

At first the practice seems very dull and painful. But after 3~4 days, things began to change, and I gradually experienced some inner transformation, and believed this practice will bring me great benefits

  1. Even if I just sit still and don’t touch anything, there are hundreds, even thousands of body sensations going on and off everywhere in my body, trying to drag my attentions away, but they seldom get noticed before.
  2. It seems all my memories are associated with some body sensations, After I meditated for 4 days, I began to have many strange dreams. in these dreams, I met my old classmates, my old colleagues and things happened between us. In some dreams I talk with some of them happily. In other ones I quarrel with some of them angrily. In the past, all those memories are “locked” inside my mind, but after the body sensations got noticed, the memories were unlocked in my dreams.
  3. No body sensations will last forever, no matter it’s painful or joyful, big or small. On one occation, I felt great pain on my knees, at first I wanted to quit, but after sitting still for 40 minutes, I felt less painful, and my knees suddenly become ice-cold, but my legs and hands are still warm.

There are much more I want to share, but only after you attend the course by yourself, will you know its benefits and uniqueness. I hope after my introduction, you will know mindfulness meditation better and get benefits from it in the future, just like I do.
